Outdoor deck construction by Taylormade Building Projects, Shoalhaven NSW

Outdoor Deck Construction: Shoalhaven NSW.

From ground-level decks to elevated platforms on stumped homes, Taylormade Building Projects builds structurally sound, properly licensed decks right across the Shoalhaven — with Jarem Taylor on site for every project.

Deck Construction Done Right, Across the Shoalhaven

A well-built deck adds genuine value to a home — extra outdoor living space, a stronger connection between indoors and out, and real kerb appeal that makes a difference at resale. Across the Shoalhaven, from Nowra to Jervis Bay, Berry to Sanctuary Point, Taylormade builds decks on all types of homes: ground-level on a concrete pad, elevated on stumped homes, attached to the back of an existing house, extending a current structure, or wrapping around a corner to capture the view. The Shoalhaven's diverse housing stock means every deck job is different — and Jarem has the experience to handle them all.

Deck construction is not a job for a handyman — particularly for elevated structures. An elevated deck carries structural loads that transfer directly into the house frame and into the ground. This requires properly engineered footings, appropriate connections to the existing structure, and compliance with the Australian Standard for timber and steel decking. Shoalhaven City Council has specific requirements for decks above certain heights, and getting the engineering and approval process wrong creates real safety risks and headaches at resale. Taylormade holds a current NSW contractor licence and builds every deck to code, with council approval obtained where required.

"A properly built deck is a 20-year investment. The difference between a deck that lasts and one that fails comes down to the footings, the frame connections, and the quality of materials used from the start — not what it looks like on day one."

Jarem has built decks from Berry to Nowra to Sanctuary Point and knows the local council requirements inside out. Whether you're in a hinterland property near Kangaroo Valley, a waterfront home on Jervis Bay, or a suburban block in Nowra, Taylormade can get to your property and deliver a deck that's built right. One point of contact, full accountability, and a result you'll be proud of for decades.

Why Choose Taylormade

Licensed Builder

Deck construction above certain dimensions requires a licensed contractor in NSW. Taylormade holds a current contractor licence and builds every deck to Australian standards — so you're covered legally, structurally, and at resale.

Owner-Led Construction

Jarem manages every deck build personally — from the first site visit through to final handover. No delegation to crews you've never met; the person responsible for quality is the one swinging the tools.

Full Shoalhaven Coverage

From Nowra to Jervis Bay, Berry to Kangaroo Valley and beyond — Jarem services the entire Shoalhaven region and knows the local terrain, council requirements, and conditions that affect every build.

Transparent Pricing

You'll receive a written quote before any work starts — clear on materials, labour, and what council approval may be needed. No surprises mid-build and no chasing for answers. That's how we'd want to be treated.

How It Works

1

Site Visit

Jarem visits your property to assess the site in person — ground levels, existing structure, connection points to the house, and any slope or access considerations. This is the foundation of a properly planned deck build, and it's always done before any quote is issued.

2

Design & Engineering

For elevated decks or those requiring council approval, Taylormade manages the design and engineering process. This includes specifying appropriate footing types, bearer and joist sizing, and connection details to ensure the structure performs safely over its lifetime.

3

Quote & Council Approvals

You'll receive a clear, written quote covering all materials and labour. Where council approval is required under Shoalhaven City Council's Development Application or Complying Development pathways, Taylormade advises on the process and can assist with documentation to keep the project moving.

4

Construction

The build follows a logical sequence: footings are dug and poured, the frame is erected, decking boards are laid, and the balustrade (where required) is installed to code. Jarem is on site throughout, managing quality at every stage and keeping your property clean and safe during the build.

5

Final Inspection & Handover

We walk through the completed deck with you before calling it done — checking every detail and making sure you're completely satisfied. Where a council inspection is required, we coordinate that as part of the handover process. Your new deck is ready to use from day one.

What Our Clients Say

Google Review

"The biggest thing that made our process so easy was trust. After meeting Jarem, you could very quickly identify that he is a genuine, respectful and trustworthy individual. This was a major deal breaker for us as without being able to entrust someone to work independently, responsibly and who was diligent in their workmanship, our project would have never commenced."

Tania & Greg Nathan — February 2025
